New Milestones at Sakura Girls Secondary School: Strengthening Opportunities for Girls’ Education

25th September 2025.

Savannah Vision Tanzania is pleased to share an important development from Sakura Girls Secondary School, where our Director proudly serves as Headmaster. While Sakura Girls Secondary School operates independently, SVTa remains a committed partner in advancing education initiatives that uplift girls from marginalized communities.

This year, Sakura Girls Secondary School achieved a major milestone with the completion of Advanced Level (A‑Level) classrooms, a modern girls’ dormitory, matron house, and a fully equipped computer laboratory. These facilities were made possible through a generous grant from the Government of Japan and a valued donation from Group Kilimanjaro Inc. Japan. To enhance safety and ensure a secure learning environment, the school also invested its own resources to construct a perimeter fence around the new infrastructure.

The new facility was officially inaugurated by H.E. Shoichi Ueda, Assistant Ambassador of Japan to Tanzania, together with Chairman Furuya Obumi of Group Kilimanjaro Inc. Japan. Their presence underscored the strong and enduring partnership between Sakura Girls Secondary School and the people of Japan.

Beginning July next year, Sakura Girls Secondary School will officially launch its Advanced Level science program, expanding access to quality STEM education for girls who have historically faced barriers to advanced learning. This new opportunity is expected to nurture future leaders and innovators who will contribute meaningfully to Tanzania’s development.

Savannah Vision Tanzania will continue to collaborate with Sakura Girls Secondary School in support of initiatives that align with our mission and the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those focused on quality education and gender equality. The strong partnership between Sakura Girls Secondary School and the people of Japan stands as a powerful example of how international cooperation can create lasting impact.

The new A‑Level facility is designed to offer a safe, modern, and inspiring environment for teaching and learning—setting a new standard for girls’ education in the region.

SVTa remains committed to fostering partnerships that empower communities and expand opportunities for young women across Tanzania.
