Savannah Vision Tanzania (SVTa) has reaffirmed its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal #17: Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration with international sustainability expert Ms. Sabine Canditt of Germany.
Ms. Canditt, a coach, facilitator, author, and speaker, volunteered at the WEHAF Foundation during her visit to Tanzania, where she supported women empowerment initiatives through education and entrepreneurship. Her expertise has been instrumental in strengthening local efforts toward inclusive and sustainable development.
In a strategic dialogue held on May 11, 2025, SVTa shared its flagship initiative in sustainable rural development, focusing on marginalized communities in Naitolia and Domanga villages. Central to this work is the household-level beekeeping project, which provides families with additional income, improves nutrition through honey consumption, and supports ecosystems through pollination. The presence of beehives has also reduced crop destruction by elephants, offering a sustainable solution to human-wildlife conflict.
SVTa’s model combines donation of beehives, training in sustainable practices, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation. The program has already delivered measurable financial benefits to households, demonstrating the transformative impact of grassroots sustainability.
Ms. Canditt emphasized the importance of aligning such initiatives with the SDGs, noting that partnerships between local organizations and global experts are essential to achieving long-term sustainable futures.
Through this collaboration, Savannah Vision Tanzania is advancing SDG Goal #17, ensuring that sustainability remains central to its mission. Together with partners like Ms. Canditt, SVTa continues to empower communities, protect ecosystems, and strengthen global solidarity in building resilient and inclusive societies.
