Savannah Vision Tanzania Supports Beekeeping Community in Naitolia Village Strengthening Livelihoods Through Beekeeping

On 27 December 2025, Savannah Vision Tanzania (SVTa) conducted a field visit to Naitolia Village in Monduli District to extend support to the local beekeeping community. During this visit, our organization donated 22 modern beehives to six households, bringing the total number of households supported in Naitolia to 16.

This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to empower rural families, enhance household income, and promote environmental conservation through sustainable beekeeping practices.

Team Composition

The SVTa delegation to Naitolia Village included:

  • Mr. Thomas Reuben – Executive Director, Savannah Vision Tanzania
  • Mr. Marcky Ruben – Director of Projects, Savannah Vision Tanzania
  • Mr. Brown – Beekeeping Expert, Monduli District Council
  • Mr. Swalehe – Driver, Monduli District Council
  • Ms. Sonnia – Volunteer Photographer, SVTa

Transportation of the beehives was facilitated by two vehicles:

  • A Landcruiser provided by Monduli District Council
  • A Toyota Noah belonging to Savannah Vision Tanzania

Community Reception

The village government expressed gratitude for SVTa’s continued support to vulnerable households in Naitolia. The recipient families warmly thanked the organization and pledged to make effective use of the hives to improve their livelihoods.

Beyond income generation, the beekeeping project contributes to:

  • Pollination services within the Randelin Wildlife Management Area (WMA), enhancing biodiversity.
  • Reducing human-wildlife conflict, particularly mitigating the impact of elephants on village crops.

Additional Engagements

On our return journey to Monduli, the SVTa team visited Nashipai Organization in Makuyuni. Nashipai is dedicated to supporting children from poor households by providing access to primary education. The organization also empowers women and men from disadvantaged families through skills training, self-employment opportunities, and community-based jobs.

We were deeply impressed by their impactful work and look forward to exploring avenues for collaboration.

Looking Ahead

SVTa remains committed to expanding this initiative in the coming year. Our future plans include:

  • Supporting additional households in Naitolia Village.
  • Providing equipment for honey harvesting, processing, and storage.
  • Establishing a reliable market link for honey producers to ensure sustainable income.

Through these efforts, Savannah Vision Tanzania continues to champion community empowerment, environmental conservation, and poverty alleviation in Monduli District and beyond.
