Dr. Afraeli works as Senior Lecturer at the Dept of Education, Foundations, Management, and Lifelong Learning at the University of Dar es Salaam. His areas of expertise are Comparative and International Education, History of Education, Higher education, Education policy, Access and Equity in Education. He holds a Diploma in Education (Monduli TTC), Bachelor of Arts with Education (Hons) (UDSM), Master of Arts in Education (UDSM), and Doctor of Philosophy (University of Pretoria).
Currently, he is working with the University of Dar es Salaam as a lecturer with 16 years of teaching at higher education institutions. He has attended various seminars, conferences, workshops, and research in the field of education.
Similarly, he participated in consultancies funded by development partners such EQUIP-TZ- Enhancing professional capacity and performance of primary school teachers in Simiyu and Mara Regions in 3Rs and the INSET training (Tusome Pamoja Project) at district levels and carrying out monitoring of the implementation of decodable in primary school grades 1-4 in Mtwara region.
