Fruit Farming Initiative – Engaruka and Selela Villages, Monduli District

At Savannah Vision Tanzania (SVTa), we believe that sustainable livelihoods and environmental stewardship go hand in hand. Building on the success of our demonstration plot, where fruit trees have thrived, we are planning to support household‑level fruit farming in Engaruka and Selela villages in Monduli District. The climatic conditions in these villages mirror those of our demo site, making them ideal for replication.

Following a detailed needs assessment, SVTa will donate 200 seedlings of mango, orange, avocado, apricot, and guava to selected households. Beneficiaries will receive capacity‑building training, technical supervision during planting, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation to ensure long‑term success.

Project Benefits

  • Income generation: Households will earn from fruit sales.
  • Nutrition improvement: Families will enjoy diverse, healthy diets.
  • Environmental resilience: Fruit trees reduce wind erosion and restore ecosystems.
  • Biodiversity support: Orchards provide habitats for birds and other species.
  • Funding & Support

This two‑year project requires USD $5,000 to cover seedlings, training, supervision, and evaluation. We are actively raising funds and warmly welcome donations through our account listed on the Savannah Vision Tanzania website.

By integrating livelihood improvement, ecological restoration, and community empowerment, this initiative reflects SVTa’s holistic approach to rural development and offers a scalable model for sustainable change in Tanzania.
