Field Update – April 16, 2025
Naitolia Village Beekeeping Project
We are pleased to share a promising update from our recent field visit to beneficiary households in Naitolia village. We are encouraged to report that the vast majority of participating households have successfully installed their beehives—an important milestone in the progress of the project.
During our visit, we identified a few households—specifically, three led by particularly vulnerable individuals, including two widowed women and one elderly woman—that faced challenges in siting their hives due to physical and logistical constraints. In response, we took immediate steps to ensure no one is left behind. Mr. Sambeke, a local partner and trusted facilitator, was provided with transportation and beeswax to personally assist these households. Thanks to this collaborative effort, we are confident that their hives will soon be in place and thriving.
Even more uplifting is the outstanding progress observed among the already sited hives: nearly 100% are now active with bee colonies. This is an excellent indicator of environmental suitability and community commitment, and it positions the beneficiaries well for our first honey harvest, anticipated in August 2025.
This progress fills us with great optimism. It demonstrates not only the viability of the project but also the tangible impact it is beginning to have on the lives of beneficiary households. We believe this initiative will continue to empower local communities—especially women and the elderly—by enhancing income opportunities and promoting environmental sustainability.
To all our partners and supporters: your continued encouragement and belief in this work make outcomes like this possible. Together, we are creating lasting change.
